October Newsletter

Updated: Dec 3, 2023

What's happening?

It is finally Autumn, which feels like Spring. Walking the dogs is no longer torture, and my son talks about going to the beach.

Last month, the Academy launched and will give our first YTT-200 course this month. Meanwhile, we work on supporting the Dubai Fitness Challenge through a meditation challenge and free community classes. Halloween is also around the corner, and despite Starbucks turning their Pumpkin Spice Latte into a chemical nightmare, we are looking forward to playing dress-up at the end of the month. Some of us look forward to the Pumpkin Spice Latte every year. Fix it Starbucks! This holiday is not part of any tradition for our teachers or management, but it is a lot of fun. Anca won a free brunch and a night's stay at Media One Hotel a few years back for best costume.

We encourage you to get outside and enjoy the weather. It uplifts our spirits and helps us cope with all life's challenges.

TRX launched

TRX launched, and it's a challenging class! My sympathies to everyone who tried it thus far. Even Anca tells me how she can feel the effects after leading a session. It will create a lot of beautifully toned people. The class evolves, and sequences change as our guests learn and provide feedback. If you are on the grounded package and want to join TRX for a trial, message us, and we will provide three free classes to test it out.

I was going to give you an interesting Romanian saying, but to avoid offending anyone, I'll leave you with this video instead.

Looks like an Instagram challenge for all our TRX guests!

Schedule update

With a new class comes new scheduling challenges. You gave us a lot of feedback, and we incorporated as much as possible into the October schedule. I hope this is the last change we make for the year. We thank you for the feedback and encourage you to keep on talking to us. How else will we know what you expect from us?

The new schedule will start on October 2nd (Monday). You can download a PDF version here or hop over to the schedule page to determine which classes your favourite teacher teaches. But really, they are amazing women, so you should support them all.

October Hero Pose

In October, we practise balance with eka pada tadasana (one-legged mountain pose). Depending on the variation, it could be easy or challenging and always requires focus. Eka pada tadasana helps prepare you for all one-legged asanas.

There are a lot of variations on eka pada tadasana that you can use to challenge yourself and support your hips.

We will guide you through our variations and encourage you to push for a version that shows strength, flexibility and balance.

Have you guessed what November's asana is yet?
